My creative discipline spans multiple camera-based practices, from highly conceptual photography to long-form documentary work. I work across photography and film, using the camera as a tool to explore ideas, people, and culture in different ways depending on what the story requires. Some projects are carefully constructed and concept-driven. Others involve putting myself in real environments and following the lives and creative processes of the people around me over time. Alongside documenting the external world, I also use image-making as a form of self-exploration which acts as a mirror through which I better understand my own perspective, questions, and place within the spaces I photograph.

The work I focus on is varied and evolves with context. It includes documentary, portraiture, and short-form video across different environments and communities. At the moment, I find myself working frequently around music and creative spaces, documenting performances, behind-the-scenes moments, and aspects of creative life, but this is not a limitation of my practice. I am equally interested in everyday moments, social spaces, and long-term projects that explore how people live, work, and express identity over time. Regardless of subject, my approach prioritises presence, sensitivity, and intention.

Pushing culture forward through my practice matters to me because visual storytelling shapes how creative work and creative lives are understood. I want to contribute to a body of work that reflects contemporary South African culture with depth and care, rather than surface-level representation. By moving fluidly between conceptual image-making and documentary storytelling, I aim to create work that not only captures moments, but builds a lasting cultural record rooted in real experience.
