I am a self-taught artist specializing in ballpoint pen drawing. While I have worked
with many different tools, I prefer the ballpoint pen because of the incredible detail it
allows me to achieve on Fabriano paper. My process is all about patience and
precision. My work focuses almost entirely on the beauty and personality of Black
children. By using a simple, everyday tool like a pen to create complex portraits, I try
to blend traditional drawing styles with a fresh, modern look. What started as a
childhood hobby of sketching people close to me has grown into a professional focus
on capturing the world around me in Johannesburg. Why Pushing Culture Matters

Pushing culture forward is important to me because it allows me to highlight the stories and
faces of my own community. By focusing my art on Black children, I am documenting the joy
and potential of the next generation. I want to show that our everyday lives and the people in

our neighborhoods are worthy of being seen as "fine art."

For me, being a self-taught artist is part of this cultural push. It shows that with enough
determination and practice, you can create your own path and achieve excellence on your
own terms. I want my work to contribute to a culture where Black children see themselves
represented with dignity and care. My goal is to use my personal studio practice to create a
visual record that honors our identity and inspires others to see the beauty in their own

surroundings.
