My name is Marian, also known as Mimi. I am a female photographer currently in Johannesburg, but for the longest time and the beginning of my journey…was mostly based in Cape Town.

Let me tell y’all a little bit about my work. It’s definitely about people: capturing the essence of their excitement, their beauty, and the fleeting moments where joy takes up space. Shaped by a couple of life challenges, I approach photography with sensitivity and patience, drawn to events and cultural spaces where humanity reveals itself most honestly. In these moments, I am continually moved by how happy we can be by shared laughter, movement, and connection. Whether documenting large gatherings or intimate milestones, my aim is to create images that feel emotionally present and reflective of our collective joy.
