Mikhailia Vera Martha Petersen

I am an independent, multi-disciplinary creative working primarily in photography, with an expanding practice in film and visual storytelling. My work blends documentary sensitivity with a considered, contemporary visual language, allowing me to move fluidly between cultural projects and commercial collaborations. I am drawn to image-making that feels emotionally grounded, intentional, and rooted in lived experience rather than surface-level trends. My practice focuses on portraiture, fashion, and place-based storytelling, often exploring themes of identity, belonging, and transformation. Whether producing campaign imagery or documenting communities and spaces in transition, I approach each project with a strong emphasis on narrative, collaboration, and care. I work closely with subjects, brands, and creative teams to develop visuals that are both aesthetically refined and culturally attuned. My background in styling and creative direction supports a holistic approach to each project, ensuring cohesion across concept, tone, and execution. Pushing culture forward through my practice matters to me because commercially visible work has the power to shape perception, influence dialogue, and expand who is seen and how. I believe commercial platforms can hold depth, responsibility, and integrity without losing impact. Through my work, I aim to contribute to a visual culture that feels honest, current, and enduring one that reflects real experiences while creating space for connection, dignity, and imagination.
